3. Preliminary Note:
This Privacy Policy applies to the web servers of the University of Stuttgart (in particular www.uni-stuttgart.de) operated by the Technical Information and Communication Services (TIK) of the Information and Communication Center (IZUS), using the OpenCms web content management system.
Some web servers are operated by TIK but are administered in part by decentralized units. Other web servers are independently managed by faculties or institutes. These may handle personal data differently and therefore have their own privacy policies.
4. Collection and Processing of Personal Data:
Unless otherwise specified on the respective web pages, personal data is processed as follows:
4.1. Provision of the Website and Creation of Log Files
When you access this website, data such as your IP address, browser type, operating system, referrer URL, and the date and time of access may be temporarily stored in server log files. This information is necessary to ensure the proper functioning, security, and optimization of the website.
This website may use cookies to enhance user experience and enable certain website functions. Cookies are small text files that are stored on your device. You can adjust your browser settings to block or delete cookies at any time.
5. Your Rights
You have the right to request information about the personal data stored about you by the University of Stuttgart, and to have incorrect data corrected.
You also have the right to request the deletion or restriction of processing of your data, or to object to its processing.
Please contact the Data Protection Officer of the University of Stuttgart via email to exercise these rights.
If you believe that the processing of your personal data violates applicable data protection laws, you have the right to lodge a complaint with the supervisory authority:
The State Commissioner for Data Protection and Freedom of Information Baden-Württemberg (LfDI Baden-Württemberg).
6. Additional Information on Social Media Elements
Our website integrates components from various third-party providers in order to display additional content, such as YouTube or Vimeo videos, and share or like buttons from social media platforms.
If such third-party elements were embedded directly into our website, the following data would automatically be transmitted to the provider when the page loads:
- the URL of the page you are visiting,
- your IP address,
- and possibly further technical information (e.g., browser type).
In addition, third-party cookies could be set. This would occur even if you are not logged in or not a member of that third-party provider.
If you are logged in to the third-party service at the time of accessing our website, the provider could associate your visit with your personal account — e.g., which video you view, what you comment on, or what content you share.
For this reason, our websites do not directly embed third-party social media elements. Instead, we use solutions where a connection to the third-party server and related data processing occur only after you actively click on a social media element.
Please note that any data processing triggered by your click is outside the control of the University of Stuttgart. The privacy policies of the respective third-party providers apply.
